How Much Does a Catio Cost in Michigan?

Catio cost depends on the space, access, structure, materials, and features. Michigan Catio Builders quotes construction for the individual project rather than publishing one price for every enclosure.

Our design fee and what it includes

The design fee is 10% of materials, with a $500 minimum. Construction is separate. The design service includes an on-site visit, measurements, a visual mockup, and a construction quote. Review our design service details before starting; the $500 minimum is not the price of a completed catio.

What changes the construction price?

Size and structure: a larger footprint, taller enclosure, or longer roof span can require more framing and support. Existing surfaces need assessment before they are used as the base.

Connection to the house: a suitable window connection differs from a new wall opening or a supported tunnel across the yard. Weatherproofing and future maintenance belong in the scope.

Materials and weather protection: mesh, framing, roofing, fastening, drainage, and finish choices affect both the initial work and upkeep.

Interior features: shelves, ramps, bridges, resting boxes, and benches add materials and installation time. Prioritize features your cats will use.

Site work: uneven ground, difficult access, repairs, and any applicable approvals can change the work required.

Compare DIY, kits, and custom construction fairly

A DIY materials total does not include your time, tools, delivery, or corrections. A kit price may exclude a base, attachment work, or interior features. A custom quote should describe the design and installation scope. Compare complete projects with similar safety, access, and weather details rather than treating a plan download and an installed enclosure as equivalent purchases.

Questions to ask before comparing quotes

Ask whether design is separate; what preparation and installation are included; how the roof and base are handled; which doors and interior features are included; and what is excluded. Clarify responsibility for any approvals, site repairs, and later maintenance. If an item is unclear, have it described in the written scope.

Where can you simplify the design?

A straightforward footprint, a practical access point, and a few well-placed resting platforms can keep the project focused. Consider which decorative features or extra routes could be added later. Keep secure boundaries, appropriate supports, and reliable access in the initial design.

Get a quote for your home

Send your location, approximate dimensions, photographs, and the number and needs of your cats. We serve Rochester Hills, Oakland County, Metro Detroit, and Southeast Michigan. A conversation about the site helps determine whether a small enclosure, a large walk-in catio, or a porch conversion is the right starting point.
